About Daily News
Truth. Speed. Accuracy.
Our Mission
Daily News was founded on a single, unwavering belief — that quality journalism is not a luxury, it is a necessity. In a world flooded with misinformation, clickbait and shallow reporting, we exist to provide our readers with accurate, independent and fearless journalism that holds power to account.
We cover politics, business, sport, technology, health and the environment with the same rigour and integrity, whether the story is happening in the capital or in the most remote corner of the country. Every story we publish is verified, every source is protected, and every editorial decision is made free from commercial or political influence.
What We Stand For
Accuracy
We verify every fact before it is published. Getting it right matters more to us than getting it first.
Independence
We are not owned by a political party or a corporation with an agenda. Our journalism serves only our readers.
Transparency
When we make mistakes, we correct them publicly and promptly. Honesty with our readers is non-negotiable.
Community
We believe journalism must reflect the diversity of the communities it serves — in its stories and in its newsroom.

Our Story
Daily News was established in 2010 as a small online publication with a team of just five journalists and a determination to do things differently. Over the past 16 years we have grown into one of the most read and most trusted news outlets in the region, with a monthly readership of over 2 million people.
We have broken some of the biggest stories in the country's recent history, won numerous journalism awards, and trained hundreds of young reporters through our annual journalism fellowship programme. But we remain as committed today to our founding principles as we were on the day we published our very first story.
Daily News is headquartered in Kampala, Uganda, with correspondents across East Africa.
